Our Strafford Middle School gifted students have worked hard this year on their National History Day projects and that hard work has paid off! Fifteen 6th, 7th, and 8th graders attended the regional NHD competition on February 24 with four group projects. These students came away with two first place trophies, one second place, and one third place. In the Junior Group Performance division, Claire Broemmer, Mack Broemmer, Andrew Nunn, Kylie Tune, and Mikayla Yarbrough took first place with their performance about the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising during WWII. Dylan Bradley, Maddi Maples, and Brayden Reece took second place with a performance about a civil rights incident that took place during 1963. In the Junior Group Website category, Braxton Reece, Shawna Stepp, and Jaden Lohmeyer took first place with a website about the Little Rock Nine. Jack Goans, Elliott Goings, Clay Smith, and Sydney Tune took third place with a website about Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his stand against Hitler during WWII. These students will proudly represent Strafford at the state competition in Columbia at the end of April.
