Music

The
Tri-M group held our Music Festival here this year. We had to pull out of The
Park because of new owners.
The Teachers and Parents were very pleased and amazed with
our facilities. Many
have said they felt that they would be bringing more of their groups
next year as our contest proved very rewarding and educational. We had around 50 groups this
year from as far North as Jefferson City and southward in MO and
some groups from Harrison Arkansas. Our Students did a great job
running the contest and was complimented for their outstanding
behavior and courtesy with the other schools.
Through this contest we have seen the Small School groups,
elementary and Middle School groups improve from year to year. Our students have learned
many things including how to rate performances, organize, help to
figure budget and make change and depend on everyone to do their
job.
We
hope to have our information out to the schools next year in August
so more schools might participate.
The
Middle School went to Solo and Ensemble Contest and we had 37
students With Gold Medals and 4 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze
Medal.
Middle
School Choir received an excellent rating.

The
7th and 8th grade Choir and the 6th
grade band plus some state bound HS students performed for concert
April 22.
The HS
Choir was asked back to the Historic Cherry Festival in
Marshfield. The theme
this year was promoting Laura Bush’s plan to put a print of George
Washington in every classroom.
The Speaker was a Descendent of George Washington. He was very
interesting. After He
spoke He Presented Mr. Harmon with a gold-framed picture of General
George Washington. It
had previously hung in the Washington Mansion known as Mt.
Vernon. It is one of
only 79 copies of this print.
It is displayed in the Trophy Case in the Auditorium. Our students participated
well with intelligent questions. It is a pleasure to see our
students light up when face to face with history. Music takes us to places of
learning that most people never get the chance to experience. Thank
you for allowing us these opportunities.

Try
going through a day counting how many times you hear music.
