Strafford Senior Andrew Woodring signed with the Air Force Academy. Andrew's accomplishment is a very high academic honor. Andrew was chosen from 9,122 students that applied to the Academy. The average ACT score of the candidates is a 30, with an average 3.84 gpa. Andrew has been working toward this goal since his freshmen year by obtaining a full academic resume to be considered. The application process was extensive. Thanks to many of his teachers who provided a recommendation. He also interviewed and and had to be selected by a congressman/woman.
His program is a 4 year appointment valuing his education at roughly $50,000 per year with a monthly stipend for expenses. In addition to receiving his Bachelor's Degree, he will be trained in basic military and field combat skills during the Basic Cadet Training, and other training will include Expeditionary, Survival, Evasion Training to airmanship programs in Space Operations, Cyber, Unmanned Air Vehicles, Powered Flight, Glider and Freefall Parachute programs.
